Love the comic. And I DO think preppers are becoming more popular. I've always been leery of guns due to small children in my house. We have bug out bags and we're teaching/learning survival skills. But I just can't bring myself to buy guns with kids around! I'm not saying it's wrong, but it scares me. ~Karen www.growing-self-reliance.com
Karen, I'd urge you to reconsider the issue of firearms and small children. In particular, it is important that children learn about firearms safety at an early age. Even if you do not keep guns at home, at some point in their lives it is almost certain that they will be in someone else's home where there will be a firearm. If somebody is handling them unsafely, your children need to know how to deal with that.
It would be a good idea to take a firearms safety course so that you become more comfortable around them and know what to watch for. Likewise, the NRA offers a gun safety program tailored especially for kids. The course is not designed to promote firearms ownership, just safety.
